Quality assurance

Well, what quality do you expect from a part time project?

At least we try to run Jacson through some tools and see what they say. I do not entirely agree with these tools, but some of their criticisms will be adressed later!

The tools to generate the following reports are linked on the software page elsewhere on this site.

• JUnit checks for code regressions.
• PMD cares about aspects of coding quality. But note, we'll keep those unbeloved empty constructors, cause they are essentially for the internal factories and we like to ensure their existance.
• JDepend inspects the relation between abtractness and concreteness.
• JCSC also looks at coding style. It is IMHO too picky about javadoc, but I like the cyclomatic complexity information. JCSC has the "funny" feature, listing the 20 "worst" classes :-)
• JMetra counts simpe metrics and their change over the time.
